| Part 2: Free At Last |
Laís was on her way to work on the evening of the 5th of November 2010, when, on see a large presence of firemen in the distance, her journalist instincts kicked in.
She had come across a rescue operation to save a stray dog that had got its head stuck in a fire hydrant.
Laís has typical journalist humor. She writes, "In my days, dogs used to use fire hydrants to pee on. This dog, instead, decided to quench its thirst IN the fire hydrant, and somehow got its head stuck!"
Laís' story was reported in the News by the Newspaper where she works, and a photo from the video was the headline photo for the 6th of November 2010 edition. The two pages can be viewed at http://www.jhoje.com.br/Paginas/20101106/local.pdf and http://www.jhoje.com.br/Paginas/20101106/edicaocompleta.pdf
Laís was not able to capture the moment that the dog was freed, because she had to go to work. But she made up for that by visiting the vet who helped the firemen free the dog and interviewing him. That interview, including footage of the freed dog, is what forms the basis of the second video.
